How to Get Foundayo: Step by Step
Foundayo requires a prescription — it cannot be purchased over the counter. Here's the fastest path:
1. Get a Prescription
You have three options:
- LillyDirect — Visit LillyDirect.com for an online clinician consultation. If approved, your prescription is filled and shipped directly.
- Telehealth providers — LifeMD, Ro, Hims & Hers, Found, and others now prescribe Foundayo. Online consultations typically take 15-30 minutes.
- Your doctor — Any licensed prescriber can write a Foundayo prescription. Bring up the medication at your next appointment or request a telehealth visit.
2. Choose Your Pharmacy / Delivery
| Channel | Speed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| LillyDirect | 3-5 business days | Free shipping. Savings card applied automatically. Best for self-pay. |
| Amazon Pharmacy | Same-day in select cities | Accepts insurance. Manufacturer coupons applied at checkout. Nationwide 2-day delivery. |
| CVS / Walgreens / retail | Same day (if in stock) | Check availability first. May need to order. Insurance accepted. |
| Telehealth (Ro, LifeMD, etc.) | 2-5 days | Prescription + delivery bundled. Consultation fee may apply. |
3. Start Your Titration
Foundayo uses a 30-day titration schedule. Your doctor will start you at 0.8mg daily and increase every 30+ days:
0.8mg → 2.5mg → 5.5mg → 9mg → 14.5mg → 17.2mg (max)
Most patients reach their maintenance dose in 3-5 months. See our week-by-week side effects guide for what to expect at each dose level.

Who Qualifies for Foundayo?
Foundayo is FDA-approved for adults with:
- Obesity — BMI ≥30
- Overweight — BMI ≥27 with at least one weight-related condition (high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, sleep apnea)
It's used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Foundayo should not be combined with other GLP-1 medications (Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, Mounjaro, Rybelsus).
Switching from Another GLP-1 to Foundayo
Already on a GLP-1 medication? You can switch directly to Foundayo without a washout period in most cases:
- Zepbound → Foundayo — Lilly's recommended maintenance pathway. Our most popular guide.
- Ozempic → Foundayo — Start Foundayo the day after your last Ozempic injection.
- Wegovy → Foundayo — Same-day switch supported by ATTAIN-MAINTAIN trial data.
- Compounded semaglutide → Foundayo — With the FDA crackdown, this is the most affordable FDA-approved alternative.

Foundayo on Amazon Pharmacy
As of April 8, 2026, Amazon Pharmacy sells Foundayo with same-day delivery in select metro areas and nationwide 2-day delivery for Prime members. Amazon automatically applies manufacturer coupons at checkout, and has reported that GLP-1 medications are their largest savings category (over $200 million saved for customers to date).
To order via Amazon Pharmacy, you need a valid prescription from your doctor or telehealth provider. Amazon accepts most insurance plans.
Medicare Coverage (Starting July 2026)
