Foundayo vs Zepbound: Pill vs Injection, Same Company

Zepbound wins on raw efficacy — by a wide margin. In SURMOUNT-1, tirzepatide at the 15mg dose showed approximately 22.5% body weight loss over 72 weeks. That's nearly double Foundayo's 12.4%.

The difference is pharmacological: Zepbound is a dual GIP/GLP-1 full agonist, stimulating two incretin pathways. Foundayo is a GLP-1-only non-peptide small molecule agonist, stimulating one pathway.

This matters for timing: If you're in the active weight loss phase and need maximum help, Zepbound is the more powerful tool. 1. Phase 1 — Lose: Use Zepbound (tirzepatide) for aggressive weight loss
2. Phase 2 — Maintain: Switch to Foundayo (orforglipron) for long-term weight maintenance

This strategy makes clinical and financial sense. You get maximum weight loss from the most effective drug, then step down to a cheaper, more convenient oral option for the long term. Lilly benefits because they keep you in their ecosystem.
